New Green Deal

 Husband Pieter got his New Green Deal...
Pieter's virgin ride on Sunday... on his Fern Metallic (Green) Vale Go! 9D EQ S Electra Bike
Outfitted with 2, 9-liter Pannier bags for shopping.
New Trek Atlanta Cycling jersey in a safe color for getting noticed. Edward Hall from Atlanta Cycling - Vinings was excellent in providing the greatest courtesy!
It was hard for finding a Vale Go! 9D EQ S as there seems to be a high demand.
This bike has a great shock absorber seat, important for Pieter as he's had his tailbone shifted due to his brother's prank for kicking his chair away...
My Vale Go! 9D EQ in a color Zinc as in March the Fern Green was not available...
Mine is also just matte black instead of a combination with light color on Pieter's new green deal.
Such lush fields due to plenty of rain all spring and summer...
This is where we captured the photos on our 29.53 kilometer or 18.34 mile ride.
Me overlooking the Oconee River. It always looks 'muddy'...
Yes, I'm still a 'chain slave', wearing my 22kt gold chain around my waist since I bought it in Indonesia in 1990. It usually stays on, except for surgery or special things where no metals are allowed. It just is peaking out here on the left...
My happy 92-year old biker with his New Green Deal from Trek Atlanta Cycling
Wearing his 18kt gold chain + cross from Tane, Mexico City.
It got blessed by the German Jesuit Siegfried Binzler in Jakarta, Indonesia whom we worked with for our fight against the Leprosy STIGMA: {Like Princess Diana, I also Tried to Tackle the Leprosy Stigma}
Swapped it the day before, for the male Trek Verve+ 3.
Courtesy of a dear friend, lending me her Ford Expedition for transporting bike.
Boys of 92+ are not that flexible anymore for swinging the leg over, for mounting their bike!
This solution is so much better, easy on/off and also the wheels are a bit wider and it has more torque due to the S model.

If only the rain will stay away, so we can plan our bike rides and enjoy our blissful relationship on wheels!
Our way of trying to live healthy as Pieter's heart surgeon advised, after doing the quadruple bypass + angioplasty in his neck: {BIG HEART ON THE MEND} post with more info and also below that post...
And yes, prayers do work and we both are grateful to God for each additional day being granted together!

Are you biking?
Are you praying?

{Our Dinner with + Gift to our Medical Friends}

After quite a wait we finally managed to get together with all our medical Friends. Yes, Friends with a capital F! They went the extra mile for both of us. First in January of 2010 when I got almost completely paralyzed and ran for days a high fever that didn't want to go down, they all came together to see me at the hospital. Two Internal Medicine doctors and one Radiologist. The latter traveled after work the two hours to my bedside, with his wife. I was even given some delicious home cooked Indian food from the other friend, the Internal Medicine doctor's wife. We know each other for 28 years! It feels so good to leave your well being in the hands of caring, true Friends! They found a cure for my rare auto immune disease and I was quickly on the mend and therefore forever grateful to them.
In September when Pieter had his heart attack, without the usual symptoms, he was sent off per ambulance to the next big city for treatment by a good heart surgeon, who did his quadruple bypass surgery. Once again, I felt secure for leaving Pieter into the hands of dear medical Friends.
So naturally, we wanted to do something for them in return, something special and from the heart. Due to all sorts of family circumstances we could not sooner get all together than July 19. We made reservations at Ristorante da Maria with Lady Chef Maria and Heinz. This time we had her cook vegetarian Indian food, for all of us. We worked in India for over ten years for Pond's India and for another company in Poona, so we LOVE the spicy food.
Now to the special gifts that I found in Germany, in the north near Hamburg. Elvira from the blog Rosengärtchen (Rose Garden) not only creates fabulous Christening gowns and such but she also designed very unique handbags with Peacocks, which she called Secret Garden.
This one caught my attention in her blog: Tasche Secret Garden and in her online shop. Knowing that the Peacock is a very special symbol in our Friends' culture, I contacted Elvira after she made me a Rose Bag: Tasche Romantic Rose und eine Uberraschung and shown also here: {Introducing YOU to Romantic Rose Handbags from RosenRomanze Germany}. Asking her if she would be able to make three of those. She wrote back yes; all unique items and thus different, but she was more than happy to make them for me. That was in October of 2010...
Elvira used blue seed pearls, semi precious stones and metal rose bead buttons for a closure on this luxurious bag. She designed it such that one looks through a window of an old Palace into its secret garden, where peacocks proudly show their beautiful feathers, between the flower beds...
Also the inside of the bag shows this romantic floral paradise, with on its trails here and there a peacock feather... like on the inner-bag with multiple compartments for cell phone etc.
Elvira made this unique design by using different materials such as linen, cotton batting, wool, and decorated it with fancy embroidery and lace.
On a string, attached to the bag, is a pouch that closes with mother of pearl buttons, for securing money or keys.
Secret Garden Bag 2 with a tassel.
Secret Garden Bag 3.
With a lot of thanks towards Elvira for letting me use her photos!

Which bag would you like most?

{Certificate for a BIG HEART ON THE MEND}

This week was rather special for Pieter, as he did kind of graduate from his Rehab for Life program. On my Christmas post: {MERRY CHRISTMAS 2010} I did show the special Rehab for Life, Christmas ball. On September 04, you could read about a {BIG HEART ON THE MEND}, one day after his open heart, bypass surgery. And on September 11, I wrote about {HOME SWEET HOME} already his 4th day home. Next month we will together join the Fitness center as he's been cleared for joining, his maximum stress test came out great. Truly looking forward to have a less stressful 2011 with lots of nice things ahead of us. We both are grateful for his full recovery! Valentine's Day has a different meaning... and that for 365 days a year.

♥♥

{Introducing YOU to Romantic Rose handbags from RosenRomanze Germany}

On August 13, I did read Elvira Hallmann's blog ROSENGÄRTCHEN and fell in LOVE with this extraordinary handbag, called: ROMANTIC ROSE.

The fact that Elvira lives in Hamburg, Germany did not stop me from asking her to sell it to me.
My plan for having it send to my friend Ellie, who could carry it over to the USA on her flight, September 2nd was just perfect! And Elvira was gracious enough to sell it to me. She also told me she would sell more on request!
I was in heaven...
Look at all the details... Beautiful embroidery and matching lace.

Her RosenRomanze initials, very elegantly embroidered backwards.
Adorned with a rose button, this linen inside-pocket can be closed.

The handbag is even reversible! How clever. See more in her RosenRomanze shop. If ladies from the US or Canada are interested in any of her bags, or like the above, please let me know as I can assist you.
This multi-talented lady also makes the prettiest Baptismal gowns I've ever seen!
They will make great Heirloom pieces.
Just have a peak at one of those Heirloom pieces here at Rosengärtchen .
Even for those that want to tie the knot she can create the most romantic Ring Pillow...
All her blogs do have Google Translater installed so language is not supposed to be a barrier.
I am so excited about sharing this with you, as such talent is so rare to come by, at this time and age!
  Elvira, is even creating her own wardrobe and soon also for her teenage daughter Madeleine. Her name is as pretty as the heirlooms and special evening bags her Mom makes. Follow her blog; Rosengärtchen to see more coming soon!

On Sunday, September 5th I did use this lovely Romantic Rose handbag when I took friend Ellie (who carried it to the US for me) and husband Mathieu to the Page House Bed & Breakfast for brunch.
That was two days after Pieter's quadruple bypass and stent in his neck...

Here I make the photo of the {Fleur de Lys Filet Crochet Designed by Mariette's Back to Basics} and made for the side entrance.

This is today... Pieter LOVES it as much as I do.

Just pondering about the many things that happened this month...
Romantic Rose being one of the highlights!

{For YOU the Heart with SnapIt Screen Capture}

Of course, for me THE HEART has been quite an issue for the past weeks...

The good news is, that my dear husband Pieter is having a remarkable recovery after his quadruple bypass surgery, on September 3rd.
Must be due to his excellent condition before he went into surgery + he is a fighter.
For quite a while I had been looking for something to capture anything on my PC screen, for doing a blog about my different items.
Doing research on some vintage pieces, I do come across valuable info that just needs to be shared with my audience.
Well, I am so excited to share with you today my find of just that tool
SnapIt Screen Capture 3.7

Below, I like to show you some of the results of this remarkable tool. Also for a personal reason; to inform others about this important HEART issue. Just read an informative article today in my favorite French: Le Journal des FEMMES
Did translate it for you in English, via Google, but you can go back to the original French version: Un cœur musclé ! (A srong heart !) if you like to.

 You know how to click on the image for enlarging it...

Hope you learned from this and I like to wish you good health and don't forget to try this SnapIt tool!
